Invisalign in Yellowknife, start to finish.

For a long time, getting clear aligners in the NWT often meant trips to Edmonton — consults, scans, check-ins, and the flights and hotels that went with them. Great Slave Dental is an Invisalign Preferred Provider, and for most cases the whole course of treatment happens right here on 48th Street: first scan through to your last retainer fitting, without leaving Yellowknife.

How it works

Five steps. One location.

01

Free consultation + iTero 3D scan

Dr. Armstrong scans your teeth with our iTero Element scanner — no goopy impressions. You'll see a 3D simulation of your projected Invisalign outcome on screen before you leave.

02

Custom treatment plan

Using Invisalign's ClinCheck software, we map every tooth movement from start to finish. You'll see the planned outcome before you commit to anything.

03

Get your aligners

Custom-made from Invisalign's SmartTrack material. You switch to a new set every one to two weeks as your teeth gradually shift.

04

Virtual check-ins from your phone

Take photos at home using Dental Monitoring. The app checks your aligner tracking and flags it to us. If you're on track, you just advance to the next set.

05

Final result + retainer

Once your teeth are where they should be, we fit you with custom Vivera retainers — made from the same scan and the same process as your aligners.

Why Great Slave

Why do Invisalign here?

For a lot of people the alternative has been flying south. It doesn't have to be. Dr. Armstrong is an Invisalign Preferred Provider and treats aligner cases here week in, week out — so the consult, the scan, the fittings and the retainers all happen on 48th Street.

Everything stays local

Consult, scan, fittings, adjustments, retainers — all on 48th Street. For most cases that means no flights and no hotels. If your bite needs a specialist, Dr. Armstrong will tell you at the consult.

Fewer office visits

Virtual check-ins mean fewer trips into the clinic than traditional aligner treatment. Good if you work at the mines or travel for government.

Preferred Provider

Invisalign awards provider status on completed case volume. Dr. Armstrong holds Preferred Provider status, which means aligner cases are routine here rather than occasional.

iTero digital scanning

No goopy impressions. A handheld wand photographs your teeth and builds a 3D model on screen in minutes.

Direct insurance billing

We bill your insurer directly and run a predetermination before you commit, so you go in with your insurer's own written estimate rather than a guess.

Virtual Care

Check-ins from your couch.

Between office visits, you take photos of your teeth at home using Dental Monitoring — the platform we use for remote aligner check-ins. The system checks whether your aligners are tracking correctly and flags the result to our team.

If everything looks good, you advance to your next set. If something's off, our team gets flagged immediately and we'll reach out. No waiting weeks for a scheduled appointment to find out something isn't fitting right.

For most patients that means noticeably fewer hands-on check-ups than traditional orthodontic treatment, which typically wants you in every two to three weeks. Helpful if you live outside Yellowknife, work a rotation schedule, or just don't want to spend more time in a dental chair than you need to.

1

Open Dental Monitoring

Snap photos of your teeth from home with your phone. We give you the cheek retractor and phone holder the app needs.

2

AI reviews your tracking

The system checks whether your aligners are fitting and moving teeth as planned.

3

We get back to you

On track? Move to the next aligner. Something off? We'll call you in.

What to expect

Living with aligners.

Timeline

Most treatments run 6 to 18 months depending on complexity. Mild spacing cases can finish in as little as 6 months. Full-mouth treatment is usually 12 to 18.

Wear time

20 to 22 hours a day. Basically all the time except meals and brushing. The more consistently you wear them, the better and faster the results.

Eating and drinking

Remove your aligners to eat and drink anything other than water. No food restrictions — eat whatever you want. Just brush before putting them back in.

Cleaning

Rinse your aligners when you take them out. Brush them gently with a soft toothbrush. Brush and floss your teeth after meals before putting aligners back in.

Attachments

Small tooth-coloured shapes bonded to some teeth that give the aligners something to grip. Not everyone needs them. They come off when treatment is done.

Retainers

After treatment, you'll wear retainers to keep teeth in place — nightly at first, then a few nights a week. Teeth drift back if you stop. Retainers do eventually wear, crack or get lost, and we can make replacements when that happens.

The consultation is free and takes about an hour. Dr. Armstrong scans your teeth and shows you the projected movement on screen, so you can decide with something concrete in front of you rather than somebody else’s photos.
