We're looking for an associate dentist to join a practice that has been part of downtown Yellowknife since 2001. You would be working with an established patient base — families we have seen across generations — with a full schedule from the start rather than building one from nothing. Our operatories are fully digital, with digital radiography and iTero scanners, and we have the lab support to do good work without compromise. We hire carefully and invest in the people who join us.
What you'll do
- Provide comprehensive general dentistry — diagnosis, treatment planning and restorative care
- Perform routine and complex restorative procedures, extractions and endodontic treatment within your scope
- Assess and manage dental emergencies, including after-hours calls on a shared rotation
- Work with hygienists and assistants on coordinated patient care
- Refer on where a specialist is the right call, and follow up afterwards
- Maintain accurate clinical records and treatment documentation
- Take part in continuing education and team development
What we're looking for
- DDS or DMD from an accredited dental program
- Registration with the NWT dental registrar, or eligibility to register
- Current CPR certification
- Sound clinical judgement across general restorative dentistry
- Comfortable with digital radiography and electronic records
- Excellent communication skills — our patients value the relationship as much as the dentistry
Nice to have
- Experience with Invisalign or other clear aligner systems
- Experience managing TMJ and bruxism cases
- Experience with iTero intraoral scanners
- Experience in a community, rural or northern practice
- Bilingual (French or Indigenous language) is a plus
What we offer
About Great Slave Dental
Great Slave Dental has been serving Yellowknife since 2001 — and there's been a dental practice at this address since the 1980s. We're a family practice downtown on 48th Street, handling everything from children's first visits to bigger restorative cases, and referring on where a specialist is the right call. Our team is small enough that everyone knows each other. We invest in equipment, continuing education, and the kind of culture that makes people stay.
